Verses I must remember constantly:
“Do not be anxious about anything…” Anything. “but in everything [everything!!] by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving [just admit that you probably aren’t thinking about good things when you’re worrying] let your requests be made known to God [not every person that you meet along the way].”
“Do not be anxious about your life. . . . Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing?” God has something bigger for us than just food and clothing. He will give us those things. And when He doesn’t on this earth, He will give them to us in eternity.
“Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.” Take life one day at a time.
“And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life?” I wish I had more hours in the day. Well, sorry, but that will never happen, so stop worrying about it.
“It is in vain that you rise up early and go late to rest, eating the bread of anxious toil, for He gives to His beloved sleep.” God gives us rest from our troubles! If I lose sleep over something, that means I’m not trusting God like I should be… And those hours are wasted! We’ve all seen this (especially in college): sometimes staying up late studying and worrying about that exam will no longer help you. You need sleep. God gives us sleep to clear our minds and stay focused.
