When I discovered the two free classes on Craftsy.com, I was very excited. The first one, “Sewing Machine 911” sounded perfect because it talked about all the basic problems you might have… and sometimes my machine has problems.
Then I saw the block of the month and enrolled in that class as well. While I’ve been sewing for around 8 years, I definitely have not learned all the necessary techniques (4 of those years were spent in college, so maybe they don’t count), and the class seemed like a good place to learn them.
For example, I have no idea how to piece with piecing paper… The lady at the quilt shop explained it to me, and I still don’t understand.
The first project is simple and quick. First, I went to find my fabric stash… this is what I found…
I chose a pink paisley fabric and started slashing for the asterisk quilt block (I had to stop in the middle, which is why the lighting changed).
the fabric is actually more pink like the pic below..
After stopping somewhere to pick up more pink fabric…
(yes, that’s pink… not orange or any other strange colors…. My room has such bad lighting for taking pictures during the sewing process)
…I started on Block 2 (wonky pound sign), which looked pretty nice…
Well, that’s one project done… now for tomorrow’s project. I’m hoping to get into some kind of routine so that I’m sewing something every day and I have something to blog about 🙂
Thanks for stopping by!
