Slouchy Tees are my favorite 🙂 Combine them with leggings, fuzzy slippers, cozy quilts, coffee, and Gilmore Girls and you have THE PERFECT SATURDAY.
I had to test out this FREE Tessuti Fabrics pattern, so I chose a poly/lycra blend from Fabric.com. The fabric is super soft, but usually polyester pills. I’ll have to give you a wear & tear update later. And I’ll probably make the next one in stripes… because stripes are always better!
This pattern is super easy and quick to stitch up. I think it took maybe 1.5 hours (after some printer trouble and all the taping/ cutting of PDF patterns). It’s another good pattern to practice sewing with knits and double-needles. I love the drop shoulders and the length of the fitted sleeve.
My bottom hem doesn’t look so great in these photos… this tee will probably only work for hanging out around the house. I’ll just have to try again with a different fabric/thread combo…
Have I told you how much I love twin-needle hemming? I never used it before (although I’m pretty sure one came with my old machine), and it adds a really professional finish without using a serger.
And just a reminder – don’t use cheap thread 🙂 When I started the twin-needle hem, I just grabbed the other spool of black thread in my drawer, which happened to be a lower quality. Not sure why (other than being cheap), but the fibers kept stripping which caused my machine to jam. This happened several times, and it was super annoying! I made it to the end, but definitely threw out that spool when I was finished. Only Gutermann Thread for me!
One example of my thread jamming issues :/
If you want to have a positive sewing experience, make sure you use the good stuff! Sewing is hard enough without worrying about low quality product.
I wore the shirt after the Runner’s World Half Marathon & Festival – so soft and comfy for my very tired body.
