Next in my Me Made attempts is the Bettine Dress by Tilly and the Buttons. These are all over Instagram, and I think I liked every photo! I knew I needed to make one myself. The pockets might be my favorite aspect of the dress, or maybe that it doesn’t require a zipper or buttons?
I decided to try a summer-y navy gingham pattern, and I wore the dress over Memorial Day weekend because it felt appropriate 🙂
No handmade item is complete without a tag!
One thing I decided to work on for Me Made May was actually pressing and finishing my seams. I know, I know, every one says you just need to get over it. But it does take a lot of extra time, so I had been skipping that…. Fabric unraveling is bad, though… so I try to finish everything professionally.
It does increase my love for knits! I almost dread sewing wovens because I’m so lazy…
Tomorrow is the last day of Me Made May, and I have to say that I had big plans to make more clothing. In reality, I don’t have enough money to buy patterns and fabric all day. I have another project lined up that should have been finished this week, but my freelance work has been pretty busy.
Of course, I need to focus on building a wardrobe that isn’t too crazy. Only things that I love.
Hope you’re having a great Memorial Day!
I really do need to invest in the handmade clothing tags, I have yet to do that. One of those things, I keep saying…someday. Lol – then just never get around to it. I love the fabric you chose for this dress! Super cute.

Thank you! Yes, I’m loving the current gingham trend 🙂 I have some fabric leftover, so I’m dreaming up the next project.
This is adorable on you! I am the same way about Seam finishing. It’s such a drag, but so worth it in the end!
