My mom’s birthday was Feb 6, and she had been talking about how much she loved this quilt with solid colors (Country Living: Making and Displaying Quilts)
So I wandered through Joann’s trying to pick out fabrics…. which is pretty difficult. The selection is not so great at Joann’s, but I knew they had a Cloud 9 collection. So I just hung out in that specialty quilting aisle until something came together. I went through a few different color schemes until I decided on this!
I wish there were more stripes at Joann’s too… but this crosshatch pattern was ok.
Originally, I thought I would do a white with metallic gold pattern for the “light” logs… but they didn’t have the right thing. And then I saw the mustard/green color that I knew Mom would love, then the multi-colored fabric, and then everything came together!
I really really love this color combo, and it came out so well!!
The quilting decision was tricky, because I needed something to make the solid section more interesting. I used masking tape for the guide lines.
ahhhh love the little bit of gold!
