I made this little embroidery hoop for my sister’s birthday. This is one of my favorite quotes from the new Cinderella movie, which is just beautiful.
My love for embroidery began when I received the Klutz Simple Embroidery book for Christmas when I was 13? Maybe? I was obsessed with all the little bugs through out the book and embroidered designs on my pillowcases and everything – more on that in a throwback thursday sometime….
I still reference that book for the basic stitches.
However, I’m terrible at drawing patterns. I started researching how other people make embroidery patterns and discovered the amazing Sulky Fabri-Solvy Paper. You can print your pattern onto this paper on your normal printer, place it on the fabric, stitch through the layers, and then it dissolves in water! Practically magic!

stitching over my design… this can make your needle a little sticky, but it’s worth it

place the whole piece in a bowl of water and watch it dissolve… it takes about half an hour

So the white didn’t stand out as much as I was hoping… I just stitched gold tread over it, and it was complete!
I didn’t take a picture of the back, but I just trimmed the excess fabric about half an inch around the hoop, and then hot glued the fabric to the inside of the hoop. Super simple, and it looks so cute!
Considering making a few for my gallery wall, and the many embroidery artists on instagram have got me so inspired! Being able to print my own designs is a game-changer, and I can’t wait to make more!!
Here’s a free download of this pattern! Tag me @mostlysewing if you make anything with it. Hope you enjoy!
